FRANCESCO ALBANO

Have you ever wondered what the physical and mental decay of the human body would look like? Artist Francesco Albano effectively represents this through his grotesque, contorted sculptures of human body parts.

Exploring the effects of societal pressures and psychological violence, Albano depicts the

limits of the human body and how it interacts with the outside world.

But who is Francesco Albano?

Albano is an Italian artist based in Buenos Aires who often dabbles in sculpture and line drawing that play with the human form. He is known for his sculptural depictions of lumpy, flaccid human forms to reflect the personal collapse due to society’s rotting effect on the modern human.

How does he create his works?

Albano often takes reference from philosophical, mystical and spiritual arguments, scientific theories, psychological studies and real life stories. Due to his urge to experiment, Albano utilises various materials such as wax and polyester resin to create the effect of soft, malleable human skin, and even the hardness and rigidity of bone.

The purpose of his art:

As Albano has beautifully mentioned, he makes his art to

“show the unavoidable decaying of the body in its inhuman attempt to survive life and face death.”
